At the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority Board meeting on November 10, 2016, funds were approved that will allow Lynx to implement several major technology upgrades that will enhance the passenger experience. Free Wi-Fi Service Fleetwide on Lynx  Wi-Fi is currently in a beta test on 30 vehicles (about 10% of the Lynx fleet). Beginning in December 2016, the service will be rolled out to the remaining 270 buses and a full-scale marketing campaign will begin in January 2017.   Lynx will be installing cellular modems and Wi-Fi routers on the entire fixed-route bus fleet and providing cellular-based Wi-Fi service to customers. I've drafted this first installment ~ Simon I've said over and over again that given its' limited resources, Lynx does a surprisingly good job of focusing on passengers and getting people where they need to go. Improve Lynx by supporting Transit Equity Day

Monday (Feb. 4) is  Transit Equity Day . No, there won’t be any parades and you don’t get the day off from work. Transit Equity Day is a national observance that was created to call attention to the importance of public transit. This date was selected because it was the birthday of  Rosa Parks , who is credited with launching the  Montgomery Bus Boycott  (1955 to 1956) to end racial segregation on public buses. We share the belief of Mrs. Parks, and the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., that access to public transit is a civil right. (If you don’t have a car and can’t afford one, then how do you get to work, the doctor, or shopping for groceries?)
